"So how does one get started with testing?"
I'll give you the link, but we need more information for msntv2 first, like flash player 8 or 9 works on msntv2? What sites are fully functional and what sites are not etc...

you are running msntv2 or webtv?
flashchat 1.0 works? (check: http://ww2.flashirc.info/chatui.aspx?rm=%25%23CoffeeHouse )

Hi, I am interested in being a volunteer for this webtv/msntv2 flash irc.   I am using a webtv plus unit.

Some info about the msntv2 unit, at the moment they can not go to other servers because their box is only designed to allow them to use msn chat on or about the 18th of October the will be getting an upgrade to allow them access to other servers....

But I am more than willing to try this out so that I can stay connected with the MSN community that took serveral talkcity chatters in (when MSN took over WebTV full-time and webtv users were sent to the pasture then) and welcomed us and now they came here to buzzen.com and we are forced to be seperated.

I'm waiting for the upgrade and perhaps it would help connect to other IRC servers. There was an e-mail to msntv subscribers regarding changes in chat:

Dear MSN TV Subscriber,

We recently updated your MSN® TV service with important changes to Chat, and behind-the-scenes

improvements to security.

Changes to Chat

MSN Chat is discontinuing their service for all users, including PC users. However, we wanted to make sure our chat fans are still able to chat on MSN TV, so our Chat page will now offer links to four popular IRC (Internet Relay Chat) services:

Starchat
AfterNet
ChatUniverse
ChatNet

In addition, you will be able to access any IRC chat site you wish. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and hope you will enjoy these new chat options.

Increased security

Your security is important to us. As a result, we've made some behind-the-scenes changes that help provide added security to the MSN TV service.

Sincerely,

The MSN TV Team

Hi Missy, welcome to the forum and thanks for volunteering.

If msntv2 can run flash 8 then it will connect, trust me.

irc.flashirc.info
channel %#CoffeeHouse
port 6667
password can use anything as password, don't leave it blank or you won`t connect!

-------------------------
This works with cgi-irc so msntv2 users can chat for sure now... but we need to see if it works with webtv's and msntv2's native client.
